Veteran’s Hiring Fair
Please assist in making the widest distribution of this email to veterans and those organizations that assist veterans in regard to employment opportunities.
The Department of Workforce Development, Office of Veterans Services in partnership with the Wisconsin American Legion, Department of Labor-VETS and the federal government’s Office of Personnel Management (OPM) have all coordinated to offer a Veterans Hiring Fair for federal employment on August 27th in Milwaukee and Chicago, with further hiring across the nation being conducted by telephone.
In addition, a Veterans Job Fair will be held on Saturday, August 28, 11-4 pm, Milwaukee Theatre, 500 West Kilbourn Avenue, flyer to follow.
The enclosed attachment contains a listing of over 460 federal jobs that are available to veterans through this special hiring fair; which includes approximately 40 available positions in the Midwest, of which 15 are located in Milwaukee and 18 in North Chicago and IL.
Eligibility: These jobs are being filled under the VRA Authority, 30% or more disabled veteran appointment or under Schedule A Special Hiring Authority. Eligibility includes not only disabled veterans but those in receipt of campaign badges, AFSM, or recently separated veterans (within the last 3 years). See each job announcement for specific eligibility and requirements.
How to Apply: Veterans must apply directly to the agency and contact person listed for that position with required paperwork by NLT close of business on August 10, 2010.
If selected for an interview, veteran will be contacted and must be available for an interview in either Milwaukee, WI or Chicago, IL or by phone for nation wide positions on August 27, 2010. See each job announcement for other information.
